SCT has undertaken a range of geotechnical characterisation and design studies relating to civil works projects at mine sites in Australia and New Zealand. We typically work for the client and assist them in managing geotechnical risk associated with tendering, design and construction.

A range of civil works projects have been conducted by SCT that includes:

  • Shaft sinking using conventional, raise-bore and blind sink.
  • Cross measure drift development using road-header, drill and blast and TBM.
  • Portal construction for highwall access.

SCT can provide a range of services including full Geotechnical Baseline Report including investigation design and completion. Our design capability and client database enables us to provide comment on cuttability and drillability assessments for blind sinking and raise-bore performance.

SCT has recently conducted detailed geotechnical design using FLAC3D for TBM holing and integration into coal mine workings at an operation in Queensland.
