Trying to fix poor mine layouts at existing operations can be difficult and subject to compromises. Elimination of mine geometries that “lock in” unfavourable stress concentrations is an opportunity available at the mine planning stage.
SCT works with mining companies and their project teams at concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility level to eliminate strata control hazards resulting from poor mine layout. This typically involves a program of trade-off evaluations – being able to quantify the geotechnical impacts for a range of mine layouts is a particular strength of SCT personnel. We are used to working in large, multi-disciplinary teams to ensure geotechnical hazards are managed through the planning process.
