Rock falls in the underground mines produce a high risk of miners having life-changing injuries or dying. The assembly of new technologies now mean these rock falls are preventable. There has never been a better time to aim for the complete elimination of hazards associated with rock falls.

RockSHIELD is our latest innovation for monitoring roof conditions in underground mines.

Using underground wi-fi networks and IoT platforms there is now the ability to monitor the roof conditions and receive data before taking appropriate safety actions.

RockSHIELD connects our range of smart instruments to a central head unit through a direct connection allowing monitoring of shear and displacement data. After installation the smart instruments will detect and monitor roof movement, which is recorded in the head unit.

The data is transmitted wirelessly by the head unit and can be viewed via SCT’s own RockSHIELD software.

Using SCT's dedicated RockSHIELD software your people now have the ability to monitor roof shear and displacement.

The head unit, with an external battery, is normally installed on the tunnel wall.

When the head unit is later activated by personnel. The information can be downloaded via the underground wi-fi network. Data is displayed on a handheld tablet.

The RockSHIELD app or web platform can be configured to show different time intervals such as current shift last shift or even the last 7 days. Mines can also set configurable alert levels.
